TCP/IP on Windows

This Section

There are two different implementations of networking in Windows:

  1. proprietary Windows networking, which runs on top of the lower levels of the TCP/IP stack
  2. some parts of the full standard TCP/IP stack, which is used for networking among all other operating systems and throughout the Internet

Because TCP/IP is not the native networking protocol, there are more problems and issues with setting up a TCP/IP network on Windows than on other platforms. This section deals with how to set up true TCP/IP networking on Windows.
