The command to trace the route to another host varies depending on the operating system.
The trace route test may not work property if ICMP requests are dropped by the target host or blocked by a router somewhere in the network path. Therefore, this should be first tried when the connection is working, to ensure that a failure is due to actual network connectivity problems.
