How to enable the status bar in Firefox

Many web site provide useful feedback in the browser's status bar. For example, when you point the mouse to a hypertext link, the title of the target page may be displayed rather than its URL. While this happens automatically by default in other browsers, you have to enable this feature in Firefox to see the messages.

  1. Drop down the Tools menu and select Options....
  2. Click the Content icon.
  3. Make sure Enable JavaScript is checked.
  4. Click the Advanced... button.
  5. Under Allow scripts to:, make sure Change status bar text is checked, then click the OK button.
